Hasmita Gokal is the physiotherapist and owner of Hasmita Gokal Physiotherapy which is based in Morningside, Durban.
Hasmita Gokal Physiotherapy is a safe place which welcomes any person who is in need of physiotherapy. The Goal of this practice is to aid in a speedy recovery of people with pain, stiffness, muscle weakness, disabilities and various other conditions as far as possible. Hasmita Gokal is always continuing to broaden her knowledge in the profession in order to provide the best evidence based assessment and treatment of her patients. This allows for an accurate diagnosis to be made therefore allowing for the best suitable treatment to be done and hence reduce the amount of follow up physiotherapy treatments needed.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2011. Following my studies I did community service at Christ the King Hospital in Ixopo and from 2013 – 2019 worked at Freese, Clark and Storrar physiotherapists in Pietermaritzburg. During this time I continued to broaden my knowledge and gain further experience in my interest in the degree. I completed the dry needling courses and went on to completing my diploma in Orthopaedic Manipulation therapy in 2016. During this time at Freese, Clark and Storrar I worked in many different areas which included, sports injuries’ at schools, geriatrics at old age homes, outpatient musculoskeletal conditions, step down facilities, and post-operative hospital work. I enjoy every part of physiotherapy but have a keen interest in neuro-musculoskeletal conditions which involves assessing and treating joints, muscles and nerves. In June 2019 I relocated to Durban where I decided to start my own private practice. I continue being in my happy place by helping people in need and find joy in aiding in the recovery of my patients.
Mamta Bhagwandas has joined Hasmita Gokal Physiotherapy from January 2024.
She qualified at Wits in 2003 and did her Community Service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. Since then she’s worked at private in-patient and outpatient facilities.
Her passion is Musculoskeletal conditions, Orthopedic conditions, Neurological conditions and Chest conditions.
